Spend the day in Chicago’s Gold Coast neighborhood, world-famous for its fascinating history, beautiful architecture and famous residents. Enjoy the splendor of this exciting, upscale area!
Visit RH Gallery in the former Three Arts Club of Chicago. The Three Arts Club founded in 1912, was built for single women living in Chicago and working in the arts of music, drama and painting. The new novel, The Women’s Hotel by Daniel Lavery, tells the story of residents living in a building like this. Today, it is home to RH Gallery, featuring levels of beautifully displayed residential design. See also the former courtyard, which is now the amazing 3 Arts Club Café. There is a coffee bar available.
Visit Holy Name Cathedral, the seat of the Chicago Archdiocese, one of the largest Catholic dioceses in the United States. It features a cathedra, the official chair of a bishop. This Victorian Gothic church from 1875 has had modern updates, while maintaining its beauty and splendor.
Enjoy a delicious lunch at Osteria Via Stato. Across the street from the restaurant, shop at Tree Studios, a historic artists’ enclave where artists lived and worked. Today it features small shops, like Posh, a French antique store.
Tour the Richard H. Driehaus Museum, a mansion in the 1883 Samuel N. Nickerson House. There is period furniture and decorative arts from the Gilded Age and the Art Nouveau period. The interiors of the mansion are covered with beautiful materials like onyx and fine wood. A gift shop features period pieces and there is a special art exhibit on display by Rory McEwen.

Approx Return: Libertyville 5:15 p.m. Wauconda 6:00 p.m.
