"Not Your Father’s Loop”    Day Tour

Thursday, November 13, 2025

Chicago, IL

Cost: $128   Don’t Wait! Reserve prior to 11/1

Experience a captivating, guided tour through the Loop, discovering both revitalized and enduring landmarks. This journey explores magnificent historic buildings and delves into their ongoing preservation, restoration, and innovative reuse.

Chicago Cultural Center - is celebrated as one of the city’s architectural masterpieces. Its original interiors—adorned with mosaics, gold leaf, and marble—are carefully maintained and preserved. See the results of the painstaking and newly refurbished magnificent domes, one of which is crafted by Tiffany. Also view a few exhibits of the Chicago Architecture Biennial 2025, themed "Shift: Architecture in Times of Radical Change".

Fine Arts Building - Violin Workshop - renowned for crafting and dealing in string instruments. Witness skilled craftsmen at work, either creating custom violins or expertly repairing older ones. Their meticulous attention to detail and artistic craftsmanship uphold the highest traditions in the field.

Lunch - Guests will enjoy a delicious lunch in the beautiful Winter Garden-like setting in the heart of the Loop. Gaze upon the “Gem of the Lakes” sculpture, which weighs 10,000 pounds.

The Monadnock Building - Constructed in 1891, stands as the tallest load-bearing brick or masonry building ever built. As you walk through its beautifully restored first floor, you’ll be transported back in time by the original materials and elegant details. The building houses a variety of unique businesses, including a distinguished men’s custom hat maker, a floral boutique, and a dress shop featuring independent labels from Chicago and around the globe.

Board of Trade Museum - Located in the iconic Art Deco Chicago Board of Trade building, the newly established Board of Trade Museum offers insights into the historic open-outcry process of commodity trading, now replaced by digital systems. Learn about the evolution of this important practice in Chicago’s history.

The Marquette Building - Completed in 1895, the Marquette Building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Its newly updated lobby exhibit tells the story of the Indigenous tribes who once inhabited this land, and guests can explore the Indigenous art gallery.
